Dr. Nahid Angha (right) and SAN RAFAEL, CALIFORNIA -- Community members were invited to a dinner honoring Professor Huston Smith, Ph.D. at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Northern California on Sunday, October 15. The dinner was sponsored by the International Association of Sufism to celebrate and benefit the new Institute for Sufi Studies in Novato, California. Huston Smith is internationally known for his books and television films on religion, philosophy and spirituality. He is the author of The Religions of Man revised as The World's Religions which has sold over 2 million copies in 12 languages. He most recently has been Visiting Professor of Religious Studies at the University of California, Berkeley.

The International Association of Sufism is a non-profit organization dedicated to sharing the wisdom and teachings of Sufism and providing education and social service to the community. With the new Institute for Sufi Studies, the IAS is embarking on a new level of service, offering public classes and seminars in meditation, healing, Sufi poetry and literature, Farsi and Arabic languages, and ancient wisdom. |
